Timber Tracking, Carbon Tracing

At Calvary Carpentry, we believe every piece of timber has a story, from where it grew, to how it’s reused, and how it helps build a lower-carbon future.
Together with Kevin Hills from Nautilus Innovation (formerly Venturer), we’re working toward a shared goal: making timber more traceable and accountable. Nautilus has been a leader in tracking embodied carbon through science-based systems, and we’re proud to continue this effort through our recent Spring Leaf Logging Project.
At Spring Leaf, the owner took a forward-thinking approach, repurposing existing trees cleared from the site rather than importing new materials. Calvary supported this circular initiative by logging and preparing the timber to be reused as furniture once it has fully dried. In two years, these pieces will return to development, each tagged with a QR code linking to its material journey and verified biogenic carbon data, tracked under ISO 14064 greenhouse gas standards.

It’s inspiring to see more developers and designers choosing this mindset, repurposing cleared trees into meaningful design elements instead of relying on cheaper imported timber. These choices may seem small, but together they represent a powerful shift toward purposeful, low-carbon design that respects both nature and craftsmanship.

Through Calvary Carpentry’s ISO 14064 adaptation, we’re creating new transparency in how timber is sourced and used, each telling each material’s story while setting a higher standard for sustainability and design integrity across Singapore’s built environment
