TIMBER CLADDING | ROOF EAVES CLADDING

TIMBER CLADDING | WOOD CLADDING

Our clients use timber as a finishing for both interior and exterior walls to follow the increasing trend of using timber as a building material.

The new trend is to use Engineered Wood or Solid timber such as Teak, European Oak  to replace traditional gypsum board partition and false ceiling.

The process of timber cladding or wood cladding is the application of timber over the desired fixture: wall, ceiling, and roof eaves.

We secure Plywood to the desired fixture, then clad timber planks or strips onto the plywood. This process is very similar to timber flooring. However, it takes substantially more time and effort for our craftsman to complete the project as it needs to be done vertically.

Of course, the type of timber used for both exterior and interior usage differs slightly.

Timber cladding

OUTDOOR VS INDOOR

The type of timber used for exterior wall cladding are generally hardwood. It has a higher dimensional stability as well as janka hardness. Exceptions would include wood from yew trees — a softwood that is relatively hard — and wood from Balsa trees — a hardwood that is softer than softwoods.

Indoor timber planks generally have a profile thickness of 10-12mm, while outdoor timber planks have a thickness of  20mm onwards.

The options for outdoor cladding includes Natural Teak, Ironwood, Merbau, Chengal, and WPC.

The options for indoor cladding include engineered timber such as Oak and Natural Teak.

BAY WINDOW TIMBER CLADDING

Timber can also be clad on to Bay windows to create a more aesthetic appeal and a more comfortable sitting area while enjoying a picturesque view through the window.

It complements the timber floors and increases the insulation of sound throughout the room.

ADVANTAGES OF TIMBER CLADDING

Timber used is renewable, reusable, biodegradable and contains minimal embodied energy- meaning that it is a good insulator for sound.

Advantages have been cited by Timber decking and cladding association.

Wall and Ceiling timber cladding fixtures also help to act as a focal point of a room or house.
