Quality Wood Finish that provides Bang for your Buck

Polyx Oil from Osmo is a premium wood finish that promises to keep your wood in pristine condition over time. It’s range of suitability is unprecedented as it can be use on solid engineered floors to even laminate plywoods. It’s natural ingredients repels water, dirt and is tread resistant for heavy traffic areas

Users of the Polyx Oil would understand that it is indeed value for money as a 2.5 litre is able to provide coverage of up to 30m2 due to its fluid property.

Application for Polyx Oil is also a breeze. No prior sanding is required,It is as simple as brushing the wood surface with a coat and the oil would easily penetrate the pores. This creates a micro-porous finish that allows the wood to breathe and allows any inner moisture to evaporate and not cause water retention that might case damage to the wood in the long run.

Another key advantage to take note is that Polyx Oil has a lower content of solvent. It contains no biocides and preservatives which makes it odorless and is recommended for people who has problems such as Asthma.

After application the applied product is made durable from the inside and it retains the wood elasticity.OSMO Polyx oil integrates completely with the wood product mitigating any cracks, flake, peels and blister.

Water based wood finish & Oil based wood finish VS OSMO

water based varnish protectionLacquer and water-based finish only protects the wood from the outside, it forms a thick layer of film and protects it against environmental damages. It has good liquid resistance, easy maintenance as it dries relatively fast and protects against wear.

It is important to take note that sanding is required prior to application of water-based finishes and thus making spot repairs not possible,as the film on forms on the surface of the wood it does not fully integrate with wood completely leaving the layer formed susceptible to cracks, flakes and peels.

Oil based varnish protectionTraditional oil based finishes protects the wood from the inside as the oil penetrates deeply into the wood pores and networks,it enhances the natural wood colour and spot repairs is made possible. As the oil penetrates into the wood deeply the finish is not expose to crack, flake or peel. The main disadvantage is that it does not provide sufficient liquid durability and the whole process of using oil based finish is very time consuming as the drying process can take up to 7 hrs.

Osmo wax and oil protection illustration

OSMO wood finish is an oil and wax based finishing system. It protects the wood from the inside just like any other  traditional oil based system and does not form a solid film, the wax acts as an additional layer of protection which creates a microporous surface because of this,it has all the advantages of oil based finish as well as water based finish and none of the disadvantages
